Don't skip th eseason salt. Information technology's the beef that's adding too much salt. If yous rinse each piece of dried beef before you chop it up and then pat dry with a paper towel the saltiness is alleviated and this appetizer is a big hit. Takes a little more fourth dimension but it is worth it.

Very good! I used Buddig corned beefiness, most a package and a half and instead of making it into a ball, I just put information technology in a bowl every bit a spread. Likewise added a little garlic powder. Served information technology with Ritz and Triscuits and everybody loved it, even my brother who says he never likes "stuff like that".
12/28/2005
like other reviewers, i chose the carl buddig packaged beef over stale beef, although next fourth dimension may endeavor it with corned beef like r.t. did! too, i didn't take green onions so i added most a rounded tablespoon of finely minced onion instead. the worchestershire sauce & seasoned salt really give this recipe a squeamish flavor. great with triscuits. thanks joan!

I love this stuff, but to me, the Worchestershire and seasoned salt ruin this classic recipe, so equally a personal preference, I've ever fabricated this with just cream cheese, greenish onions, and dried beef (in a jar...don't recollect the brand name). I don't rinse the beefiness, just mince information technology. In this case, I love the saltiness of the beef with the creaminess of the cream cheese...absolute past the greenish onions. Without the additional salt, information technology's not likewise salty. I am puzzled by rinsing common salt off...then adding salt = ) ...
04/27/2005
I also tried using Carl Buddig sliced Beef instead of the dried beefiness and that tamed downwards the saltiness. And some chopped pistaschios instead of walnuts. I like both versions very much. :-)
12/30/2004
I added some shredded Precipitous Cheddar cheese to this. I made it for a party in Nov and accept been asked to bring it for New Years, and so I think information technology was a hit!
10/24/2001
This was skillful only it was a niggling too salty. Next fourth dimension I am going to skip the flavour salt.
12/21/2011
Really works better with shredded cheddar cheese and cream cheese (I exercise 8 oz of each). I was out of green onions and used dried chopped chives instead. I ran out of Worchestershire sauce and used Land Bob's instead (made it sweeter). Exist sure and rinse the dried beef well to remove the extra common salt. I used onion powder and garlic salt instead of seasoned table salt. I put all the beefiness into the cheese ball so curl information technology in crushed pretzels.
12/23/2010
This is crawly!!!! I used nigh one/ii amount of beef & rolled information technology in pecans instead of the dried beef. I also added some shredded cheddar cheese. Thanks!

good stuff. Very salty, so don't forget to rinse the beef as I did! I added a handful of sharp cheddar cheese every bit well. Will definitely make again with rinsed beefiness!
03/sixteen/2008
I liked this alot, so did the gals I made it for. The dired beefiness was a pain. I rinsed it twice to exist sure it was non salty. I used all the beef in the "ball" and used shredded cheese to encompass it.

This is very shut to the recipe I use. I don't use Worcestershire sauce or seasoned salt just I practise apply MSG. Sometimes I add a splash of Worcestershire sauce simply I really can't tell the divergence i mode or some other. This is my 14 yr onetime sons fav!!! He tin sit and eat the whole thing by himself!

I take made this several times. I am sure this is terrible for you lot, but sooo good. I ordinarily use 4 oz of beef, b/c that is = to 2 packages of the Buddig Beef. I usually only chop all the beef and mix information technology in and then only serve the mixture in a bowl instead of rolling into a brawl. . . Unless I am trying to exist fancy. :) I always endeavour to make ahead, b/c it is much better when the flavors have time to meld. Nosotros love information technology westward/ Triscuits and Ritz. Cheers for a smashing recipe!

AWESOME AND A Party PLEASER, I ADD A LITTLE More than BEEF THAN CALL FOR BECAUSE MY Married man LOVES Information technology.
02/05/2011
YUMMY! I fabricated this years ago and was and then happy to notice the recipe again...so easy to make all the same then tasty. I added chopped nuts, and because I am a bit of a germaphobe, I didn't utilise my bare hands to make the ball - I rolled it around in a slice of plastic wrap and felt amend about that. I took it to a get together with girl friends, and they all said it was addictive!
12/16/2011
This is a not bad recipe with great flavour and no MSG!!! It is as well quick and easy, another PLUS.
12/23/2005
I made this for thanksgiving. I have 3 brothers whom love to eat. They loved information technology forth with in that location kids. I didnt modify a affair with this. Thank you lot so much for such a delicious recipe.

I accept loved this recipe from my days at Bridge Club. I utilize Buddig beef, finely chopped olives, green pepper and onion. It is my most favorite e'er!
10/22/2007
Succulent and perfect for outdoor events because of the consistency of the cheese. Instead of wrapping it into a ball, I spread information technology out like a dip. The recipe is proficient, but a little bland, then I added several cups of fresh bacon bits and a little cayenne pepper to give it some zing.... that did the trick and everyone loved information technology! I'll use this recipe again.

my aunt makes this at every family go-together and we all inhale the stuff! i honey information technology with garlic bagel chips. the flavour added by the green onions is wonderful!
12/30/2007

09/02/2009
I've made this for years, but instead of the Worcestershire sauce and seasoned salt, I use the some of the powdered flavoring from the Mrs. Grass Chicken soup mix that comes in the box. Yum!
09/25/2011
Merely didnt like this at all.
01/12/2009
Also salty for me. Next time I will rinse off the beef earlier chopping. Other than that - tasted neat. Will make once more.
05/12/2009
Endeavor using "accent"

I got this recipe a couple of years agone from a friend, it is very expert. I do not employ as a cheese ball, I blend everything in the nutrient processor except the green onion (I mix that in by hand) and put in a basin as a dip, everyone e'er loves information technology.
12/14/2012
I have used this recipe for years but instead of seasoning salt I use Emphasis and allow it set for a couple of hours earlier serving. It's always a huge hit.
11/11/2004
I made this but rolled the ball in chopped walnuts - very skilful!!
10/27/2006
I made this for my son's outset altogether party and served with sliced cheese and whole wheat crackers. I should have made more because it was gone before the party was fifty-fifty halfway over! This is a wonderful recipe and I'm really going to make it again just to have in the business firm for a snack.
02/05/2007
I will employ this recipe adverse! Very proficient!!
11/19/2014
This was a tasty recipe variation of how I've always made information technology and others I know take made this. Instead of stale beef, I utilise the Budding beef packs. Information technology reduces the saltiness greatly. I also add together minced dried onions instead of light-green onions to give it more of a pop. I don't use seasoned table salt either because the Worcestershire sauce and minced onions requite it enough "pizzazz" to not need additional table salt. All in all, I gave this 4 stars only because the saltiness was through the roof for me and most of family unit. Other than that it was pretty good
12/23/2016
This is ane of my go to cheese ball recipes and e'er a big hitting.
05/18/2016
Outset, I chopped up the beef in the nutrient processor, then rinsed and strained it and patted dry on a paper towel - MUCH easier than washing each slice. Onion was chopped nice and fine in the processor, besides - I used everything merely the last inch of those onions! Simply modify I made was adding a jar of "Old English Cheddar spread". When I get-go tasted it, i was worried it was way as well salty, only I put information technology in the refrigerator over dark. In the morning time, the flavor was VERY good. Rolled it in chopped pecans and it was one of the first things gone at our snack day in the role.
08/21/2017
I made mine and left out flavor salt and added just a little sprinkle of garlic salt and added i/4 loving cup of cheddar cheese and served it with black bean tortilla chips and it was an accented hit at work. So delicious!!!

This is my go to cheese ball recipe! Very good. A couple of important tips though. #ane. The longer it sits, the more the flavors blend. So I would at least make this the day before y'all want to serve it. #2. Yous MUST rinse the dried beef nether some running water really well to remove the salt or else the cheese ball will be way as well salty! Just rinse the beefiness slices, then pat dry out with paper towels. Enjoy!

We make this for Christmas parties and it's always a hit!
08/26/2013
Its awesome I make one a week for my family an for political party'southward! ! It is very salty so I use the lower sodium beef large difference try that an you dont take to rinse your beef :)
11/25/2021
Had to substitute balsamic vinegar. Very good
xi/26/2013
Very good, rolled mine in parsley from my garden. For the salt issue (I practise similar the regular dried beef) I used my kitchen pair of scissors to cut information technology up into a strainer, then ran it nether warm h2o. Squeeze out the h2o, and that took care of the saltiness upshot and my beef was ready to drop into the cream cheese.
11/30/2013
Since the beginning time nosotros fabricated it (my married man and I like to cook together), it'southward been a "command functioning" at family events. We typically add together a petty garlic powder. Great recipe.
12/25/2013
I couldn't discover dried beef at the store by my house so I used ii packages of buddig corned beef and added one/4 teaspoon of garlic pulverization (Pulverisation not salt!) and it was actually tasty. Brand sure you leave the cream cheese out for a few hours and its actually like shooting fish in a barrel to mix. I'd recommend.
12/22/2015
I too used Carl Buddig. My dad has made these for years as popems. You gyre the mixture into walnut size balls, curlicue them into chopped beefiness and you pop em into your oral cavity - no crackers required. Thanks for sharing
12/28/2013
Expert. I added 4 oz of sour cream and finely diced greenish, scarlet, orangish peppers and garlic salt. The sour cream was added to help stretch the corporeality of end production. Had unexpected guests. Everyone loved.
01/14/2015
I knocked off a star for this reason: one TBLS. is likewise much Worchestershire. A teaspoon is plenty. Jarred chipped beef is besides salty. Utilize Carl Buddig smoked beef in the bags. I use 2 or 3 - 2oz. numberless, it'southward fine and better priced. I also just used iv stalks green onion. The idea is to accept the ingredients marry each other, non overwhelm. This is a corking as a spread, too. You don't have to bother roofing it with beef. All-time when it sits over dark.
12/24/2018
I cutting all ingredients in half to make little individual gifts for Christmas! It was a hit!!
12/26/2012
Very good! I made this yesterday for a small Christmas gaqthering. Everyone loved it. I used two (2oz) packs of shaved beefiness within the brawl because I could non observe stale beef; then I used 1 (2oz) pack of shaved beef on the outside. I doubled the Worchestershire Sauce. Information technology makes a big brawl (near 5-6 inches in diameter). For a small gathering of 5-6 people, you could half the recipe. We had about one/2 of the ball left over with v people enjoying it; eveyone was trying to prevent getting full on this considering nosotros were post-obit information technology with a large meal. I will try rolling in crushed pecan bits the next fourth dimension.
05/22/2016
I,ve fabricated this dip for years but add a little beer till its the consistancy I want for spreading, The beer adds more flavor. As well Its ane of my families all time favorites.
06/21/2018
I don't utilize seasoned common salt. I use the recipe as is but add garlic pulverisation and onion powder and don't rinse the beef. Perfect every time!! I have made this multiple times and it is always gobbled up!!!
01/06/2018
I make this recipe over again and again every holiday season! The only change I accept made is that I mix in all the dried beefiness with the other ingredients. I encompass the cheese ball with finely chopped pecans. Always a hit with family and friends.
12/07/2016
I did non add any salt. Everybody seemed to enjoy this.
xi/23/2017
Its an erstwhile favorite at our business firm. I also utilize Buddig stale beef , cream cheese, green onions, worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and some pepper and seasoned salt.
11/03/2018
Love this stuff. I lost my recipe and am and so happy to meet information technology over again. As a side annotation, Lyby basically changed the recipe then rated information technology. I don't mind someone making a recipe their own but don't rate a recipe then change all of information technology.
